Teak Garden Benches
Garden benches are an accessory practically all gardens have. Garden benches are found in many materials and designs where one of the highly sought types is the teak garden bench.
Teak is grown in tropical countries like India, Malaysia and Thailand. Teak is a very beautiful and durable type of wood, giving it the reason to be so highly sought out. Teak wood is said to be kiln dried and not air dried, to make sure the wood is dried to the core. It can withstand the elements of nature like rain and sun year after year without any maintenance, and is naturally resistant to insects, splintering and warping.
So this makes teak benches free from sealing, finishing and staining to remain sturdy and beautiful for years to come. Some of the teak park benches in European cities date back to more than 100 years! As brass never rusts even if left outside in the rain, most manufacturers of teak garden benches use brass castings, bolts and screws in the making of a teak garden bench. In addition to a teak garden bench being durable, it is also known for its rich warm color and satiny smooth surface. With time, the color of the teak garden bench may turn a mellow gray tone. Some people don't mind this, while some try to retain the original color by annually applying coats of teak oil.
Though this process is not required to protect the wood, many are of the opinion that this extends the life of teak furniture. If you do intend to oil your teak garden bench, remember to start applying oil before the color fades, and to apply it on a clean surface, lest the trapped dirt make the furniture turn black.
Though teak garden benches may prove to be expensive, it is a true investment in value. Instead of replacing your garden furniture every year or so, this one time investment in teak furniture saves you money over the years. Who knows, it may even outlive you to become a valued family heirloom!.
Shearling Coat Care
Shearling coats and jackets are easy to take care of, although you do have to keep in mind a few things to avoid accidental damage to them.
Here's our care guide. If your shearling jacket gets wet, let the coat dry naturally. Don't place by a fire or other high heat source.
Heat can dry out the natural oils in the hides.Do not wash your shearling coat or jacket in a washing machine or put in a dryer. Most shearling coats are meant to be dry cleaned.
When looking for a dry cleaner, make sure that they know how to properly clean a shearling coat.
The process must include putting the natural oils back into the hides.
Without doing this process, the hides will dry out and the coat will be ruined. When hanging your Shearling Coat or Jacket use on a sturdy, well shaped coat hangar. Don't use a wire hanger that's going to put "pokies" in the shoulders and don't hang it up on a knob for extended periods of time. Avoid stain resistant treatments...

Dog Worms
Some dogs develop dog worms. What are these worms and what are the signs of infestation?
The main species of worms that dog owners have problems with are round worms and tapeworms. Round worms are common among puppies, and are a cause of headache for dog breeders. These worms are like common angleworms in size and shape but with a lighter color of white or pale pink.
In adult dogs, round worms can grow up to seven inches long and half in length and are thick as a white string in puppies. They live in the dog's small intestines and usually are coiled in masses that obstruct the stomach passage.
In dogs, it sometimes goes to the stomach or end up as bowels.
When one dog is infected with worms, millions of eggs will pass through that dog's feces. These can be found all over the floor, bedding, even in feeding and drinking pans. They can n go to the dog's coats and are licked off and swallowed, finding their way inside the dog's intestinal tract....

Copyright 2006 Monique Hawkins
Creating carousel music boxes, ballerina music boxes, wooden keepsake boxes, musical jewelry boxes, and other types of music boxes is a relaxing and creative activity. Here a few general directions for those who are ready to begin or are in the process of creating their own music box.
Antiquing
When antiquing the flat surface of a music box, use an old paintbrush or a clean rag. Brush in the same direction and cover as much of the music box as desired. Make sure the surface thoroughly dries and do not go back over areas one the drying process begins.
If antiquing a textured surface, an old paintbrush works well. Be sure that the antiquing gel covers all the surface and work on small sections at a time; allow to dry.
Dry Brushing

Painting and Decorating Tile
Ceramic tile can be beautiful and elegant. But it can also be bland and uninspired. If you want to add a little color or creativity to your tile, here's how!Remember to clean your tile and let it dry before you begin any project.1. Seal both tile and surrounding grout with a water-based floor varnish. Ask your home improvement retailer for suggestions about a good water-based floor varnish for your area.2.
Brush paint primer on both tile and grout. Let it dry for at least 12 hours before you begin painting.3. With an artist's brush, paint your pattern with latex paint. Simple designs are best. You can use stencils or, if you are brave, try painting your own original design directly on the tile.
Let the tile dry before sealing.4. Seal the tiles with two coats of water-based varnish. Let the tile dry between coats.Decorating your old tile can be easy and fun. Now, anyone have a great idea for rescuing an old bathtub? (Without making it a backyard planter, that is!).
