The Arabian horse is an animal which has lived on the Arabian Peninsula for well over 2000 years. These horses were properly bred to demonstrate many traits which were attractive, such as strength, beauty, and endurance. Many experts on horses have concluded that Arabian horses are among the oldest breeds in the world.

The Bedouins were a nomadic people who are given credit for first taming the Arabian horse. The Bedouins made every effort to protect the purity of these horses, and many could trace back the lineage of the horses they owned. During this time, it was critical to have a horse which was strong, fast, and courageous. It also had to be capable of surviving in the desert environment. The Bedouin tribes were constantly at war with other tribes in the region, and it was necessary to have a horse which could lead them into battle.

The Bedouins soon gained a reputation for breeding some of the most beautiful horses ever seen. Many people would trade horses with them, and they would get together and share the lineages of the horses which were traded. There are a number of different variations of Arabian horses, which are known as strains. These horses have a common ancestor and look. Some of these are Hadban, Kuhaylan, and Dahman.

The Arabian horse of one of the most well known breeds in the world. Their heads are shaped like wedges, and they have large eyes and a small muzzle. Arabian horses which have a concave shaped nose are highly prized. The neck of an Arabian horse should be arched, and their legs should be muscular and lean. Their coat should be shiny, and can be likened to silk. Despite this, Arabian horses are often not seen at the highest levels of show jumping competitions, because it does not have a good bascule compared to other breeds.

Most Arabian horses have a coat which is grey or brown, and some horses also have black coats. Arabian horses with black coats were rare, because in the desert they would absorb heat, and this would be dangerous. Because the Arabian horse is so genetically pure, it is commonly used in enhancing the characteristics of other breeds of horses. Arabian horses have a good temperament, and this also makes them attractive to breeders.

Arabian horses have been used in professional horse competitions for a long time, and Arabian horse games are being held every year in which the horses and their owners can compete with each other.

The Origins of Coats of Arms

Coats of arms, often known as family crests, appeared first in England in the early 1300s and quickly spread throughout Europe. The ?science' of heraldry was thus established with rules and terms.

Coats of arms were displayed on banners, tabards and, of course, shields. The term coat of arms was derived from the surcoat, a linen garment that was worn over the suit of armour when a nobleman, knight or landowner fought in battle. ?Surcoat' led to the term ?coat of arms'.

Although coats of arms were very decorative, they grew out of a need to identify who was who in battle. Landowners had their own small private armies and took their followers off to battle, particularly during the Crusades. When battle was joined, the suit of armour completely covered the knight who was thus unidentifiable and risked an early form of ?friendly fire'! So, to enable their rabbles of followers to identify them and rally to their side, the knights stated to paint symbols on their shields and surcoats.

It is difficult to prevent a good idea from being copied and, before long, what we would now call the middle classes started to produce their own coats of arms. The nobility objected and, at their request, the King sent heralds to try to stamp out unauthorized arms and save them for the privileged few. It was to no avail though, and a compromise was reached that allowed any ?gentleman' to display a coat of arms.

Today many people display a coat of arms in their family name. The prints and shields are much smaller than those displayed in medieval times ? but so are the houses!

Coats of arms are sometimes referred to as ?family crests'. Technically, the family crest is the part of the arms that is found on top of the helmet. You will often find a family motto shown as part of the coat of arms. The first mottos appeared around 1660, although not all arms included a motto.

Creating carousel music boxes, ballerina music boxes, wooden keepsake boxes, musical jewelry boxes, and other types of music boxes is a relaxing and creative activity. Here a few general directions for those who are ready to begin or are in the process of creating their own music box.

Antiquing

When antiquing the flat surface of a music box, use an old paintbrush or a clean rag. Brush in the same direction and cover as much of the music box as desired. Make sure the surface thoroughly dries and do not go back over areas one the drying process begins.

If antiquing a textured surface, an old paintbrush works well. Be sure that the antiquing gel covers all the surface and work on small sections at a time; allow to dry.

Dry Brushing

Dry brushing causes a carousel music box, ballerina music box, and other types of music boxes to look as if they have more depth. A stiff, round paintbrush, flat brush, or stenciling brush works well. Leave a little bit of paint on the brush and then lightly brush the music box in the same direction.

With dry brushing, it is essential to make sure there is no water in the brush. If using different colors, wipe the brush on a paper towel and do not wash it.

Painting

When it comes to painting a wooden keepsake box, musical jewelry box, or any music box, sanding, sealing, and making sure the wood is dust and lint free assists in wood preparation.

A flat paintbrush or sponge brush can be used to apply a nice smooth coat of acrylic paint. This should be allowed to dry before a second coat of paint is added. For a very smooth surface, three coats of acrylic paint should be used. Steel wool can also be used to sand between the coats if necessary.

Preparing Music Boxes

Chipboard boxes come in a variety of sizes and shape sand are not expensive. Since they are not sturdy, strengthening is needed. This can be done by placing a bead of hot glue around the inside bottom of the box; make sure the glue hardens.

Next, apply a layer of tacky glue to the insides of the box using a paintbrush. Allow to dry.

Staining

Wood stains come in a wide variety of colors. Always follow the manufacturers directions. Stains, of course, will stain differently. The wood grain will determine how much stain will be absorbed. Leave the stain on for 1-2 minutes and then wipe for light stain or leave on for 5-10 minutes for a dark look.

Creating wooden keepsake boxes, carousel music boxes, ballerina music boxes, musical jewelry boxes, and other types of musical boxes is a fun and relaxing hobby. Antiquing, dry brushing, painting, chipboard boxes, and staining are just a few of the many things that can be done to create a music box to last a lifetime.

The Alaskan Husky is not truly a 'breed' of dog in the traditional sense. The name is actually a classification for this working and sled dog. There is no written breed standard for Alaskan Huskies and it is not a registered breed or show dog. Alaskan Huskies are the descendants of several dogs: Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Border Collie, German Shepard and possibly a few others.

Most Alaskan Huskies have brown eyes, but can also have blue or blue-brown combinations. They are about 20 to 24 inches high and average about 35 to 65 pounds, giving them a slim build. Since this dog is used primarily for work, colors and markings are unimportant in breeding and vary widely from dog to dog. Alaskan Huskies can be pure black, totally white and everything in between. Tails can be long and curly or barely there. The ears are often times prick ears, but some Alaskan Huskies have ears that droop.

They do not need a lot of maintenance, as their coats tend to be short to mid-length, but do require extra brushing twice a year during shedding season (particularly in the spring when shedding is the heaviest). The coats are wooly and thick (a protective measure when in their native environment) so they are better suited to cooler climates. Living on average about 10 to 15 years, the Alaskan Husky is good with children, but not other household pets as they have a strong hunting instinct and may turn on them. Though playful, loving and generally docile, the Alaskan Husky is not a good indoor pet. They can be difficult to housebreak, and get bored easily, especially if left alone. Alaskan Huskies will become destructive, tearing things or running around in circles. They also need a lot of room to run as they have a lot of energy and need to exercise frequently.

If outside, Alaskan Huskies do need to be watched closely as they will dig under fences in order to hunt or run. They also do not make good watchdogs, as they will greet everyone with friendly barking and have been known to play with any stranger entering their territory. As a result of their mixed heritage, Alaskan Huskies have relatively little health problems, though some are prone to gastric torsion (bloat) and if they do not get enough exercise will quickly become obese, leading to other health problems.

There is a website that has great information on Alaskan Huskies and most other breeds of dogs. It has details that pertain to a dog breeds health, grooming, living conditions, best food choices and more, the website is called: Dog And Cat Facts, and can be found at this url:

Las Vegas, NV (ContentDesk) February 28, 2006 -- Pandora Corporation is pleased to announce the release of PC Pandora 3.0, the newest version of the popular PC Pandora software, a desktop application designed to allow parents to monitor the PC activity of family members. The affordable PC surveillance and Internet monitoring software is easy to use and install. Parents can install the software themselves and be up and running in less than two minutes. The new PC Pandora 3.0 is now available online at http://www.PCPandora.com."PC Pandora fulfills a niche in terms of child safety, says Manny Coats, Managing Partner of Pandora Corporation. Children have never been more vulnerable to online predators, and many leading advocates recommend monitoring or restricting computer usage as a first line of defense for keeping your child safe.Designed to operate either silently or in the open, monitoring software allows the administrator of any given computer to create a visual record of that machines usage. PC Pandora is part of the new generation of robust and affordable monitoring software designed to give PC owners control over the usage of their or their familys PC. The new PC Pandora 3.0 is now available online at http://www.PCPandora.com. The exploding popularity of online social community sites make it easier than ever for pedophiles to target children online. In fact, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has received hundreds of complaints regarding MySpace.com alone, Coats adds, citing the popular social site that is a favorite online destination for teens. PC Pandora provides parents with a weapon to use against predators, one that ensures children will have fun and be safe online. And parents wont have to restrict access to their kids favorite online destinations. Its very easy for children to find online content that parents may find objectionable or harmful, says Coats. PC Pandora allows parents to control access to undesirable material on a per-site basis. Unlike other programs with built-in blacklists, PC Pandora doesnt choose what objectionable material to block, but rather allows each family to control that decision. We understand that family standards differ and we feel it is essential for every parent to have final say over what his or her child is viewing.PC Pandora 3.0 has many advanced new features enhancing the usability of the program and expanding its capabilities to: Record all emails sent and received from Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, MSN and others.Record all websites visited and what is done while there.Record all instant messages sent and received.Record all logins and passwords to any site visited, including email accounts.Block any sites by simply entering their name or selecting them from a list of visited websites.Record all programs executed, the time and duration of the execution.Play back easily using standard VCR/DVD-like play functions.Hide completelyso nobody but you knows it is on the PC and only you can access this information.About PC Pandora: First released in early 2005, PC Pandora has been constantly upgraded to industry-leading specifications. With the release of version 3.0, PC Pandora and the pcpandora.com site have vaulted into prominence with a combination of features unparalleled in the monitoring software industry. Not only limited to family desktops, PC Pandora has a wide range of uses, including for corporate security, infidelity issues, and the protection of intellectual property. For more information about PC Pandora 3.0 or Pandora Corporation, contact Manny Coats at (702) 372-0432 or visit http://www.PCPandora.com..

Some dogs develop dog worms. What are these worms and what are the signs of infestation?

The main species of worms that dog owners have problems with are round worms and tapeworms. Round worms are common among puppies, and are a cause of headache for dog breeders. These worms are like common angleworms in size and shape but with a lighter color of white or pale pink.

In adult dogs, round worms can grow up to seven inches long and half in length and are thick as a white string in puppies. They live in the dog's small intestines and usually are coiled in masses that obstruct the stomach passage. In dogs, it sometimes goes to the stomach or end up as bowels.

When one dog is infected with worms, millions of eggs will pass through that dog's feces. These can be found all over the floor, bedding, even in feeding and drinking pans. They can n go to the dog's coats and are licked off and swallowed, finding their way inside the dog's intestinal tract. There, the eggs hatched and are fully developed after ten days.

This rapid development of round worms probably accounts for the erroneous belief that puppies are born with worms. The mother of these round worms eggs found in a kennel infested with worms can attach themselves to the dog's coat, breasts or belly, and the puppy can suck into them when they drink milk from their mother.

Symptoms of round worms are a hot dry nose with weak, watery eyes and pale lips and gums. Dogs that are infected also exhibit foul breath, a mean cough and red and pimply irritations on the skin and dry coat that is always shedding.

Dogs with worms are unhappy and unhealthy. Bring your dog to a veterinarian if you suspect that it has worms. .
